Tasting Notes

Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 May 23
The 2002 Brut Coeur de Cuvée is a totally hedonistic Champagne. It was picked at 11.2% potential alcohol, where many growers harvest today, but unprecedented twenty years ago. Layers of apricot jam, tangerine oil, spice, vanillin and passion fruit saturate the palate. Still vibrant and full of energy, the 2002 shows no signs of fading. I loved the 2002 when it was first released and love it today. It is one of the all-time greats at Vilmart.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
